New Polling Sites Announced for Southbury Voters

Five polling sites reduced to three in Southbury.

The Jewish Community Center, Rochambeau Middle School and Sacred Heart Church will no longer be used as town polling locations, as Southbury has reduced its polling locations from five to three.

The Center Firehouse and Southbury Public Library will remain polling locations and the Senior Center/Parks and Recreation Building will be added as a polling location.

According to the Southbury First Selectman’s Office, all registered voters in the town will receive a letter in the mail within the next week, informing them of their new voting district and where they should go to vote.

Attached is a street-by-street breakdown of the three new voting districts and where residents will vote.

Residents in Voting District #1 will go to the Center Firehouse, 461 Main Street South, Voting District #2 to the Southbury Public Library, 100 Poverty Road and Voting District #3, the Senior Center/ Parks and Recreation Building, 561 Main Street South.

These "new" polling sites still leave my wife and I driving past the library, which is less than 2 miles from our house, to the firehouse, which is more than 3 miles away. These arbitrary street delineations make no sense at all, unless perhaps you are a politician or a government bureaucrat . . . They certainly aren't efficient, and don't save gas or time for many voters.
