[UPDATE - 11:30 A.M.] For some Southbury voters, deciding where to park at their designated polling location may be the toughest choice they make today.

Across town voters have been piling into the polls in large numbers, generating busy parking lots and crowded buildings, to cast their ballot in the 2012 Presidential Election.

Midday turnout numbers have yet to be released by the Registrar’s Office, but Southbury Republican Registrar JoAnn Bolin said it has been extremely busy at the polls.

Jeff Giegler, Southern Field Director for the Andrew Roraback Campaign, said he had been to polling locations in Danbury, Newtown and Southbury and was amazed at the amount of voters he saw.

“There’s been a huge turnout at all of the polls I’ve been at this morning,” said Geigler outside of the Center Firehouse in Southbury. “Speaking to other staffers as well, it’s been unbelievably busy, especially in the Fifth District.”

Southbury First Selectman Ed Edelson, who spent the morning greeting voters in front of the Southbury Public Library, echoed these sentiments.

“I’m thrilled to see so many people exercising their right to vote,” said Edelson. “It’s been going well, there’s been a steady flow all morning.”
