New audiovisual system and assistive listening system for the hearing impaired funded by Library's Gift Fund.

As part of an ongoing effort to improve the technology at the Southbury Public Library, several new features including as audiovisual system, ceiling projector, wireless microphones and an assistive listening system for the hearing impaired have been installed.

The Library Board of Directors have been doing strategic planning for many years and finalized their latest long-range strategic plan this spring, making their first priority top to bottom technological upgrades.

The board has engaged a consultant to review and recommend updates to the library's seven-year-old technology configuration. Funds to carry out these upgrades will come from donations made to the Library's Gift Fund, according to Head Librarian Shirley Thorson.
