Southbury Republicans Host Picnic

The Southbury Republican Town Committee hosted a picnic at Ballantine Park on June 30 with over 100 residents in attendance to meet various candidates interested in running on the Republican ticket in this November’s election.

Among the candidates who spoke at the event was First Selectman candidate John Monteleone, who discussed his background and how he envisions working with the various boards and commissions in town, along with the town staff, according to a release from the RTC.

Some of the declared candidates for the Board of Selectmen also addressed the crowd, including incumbent Selectman Chad Landmon, Jennifer O’Neill, Ken Korsu and Bob Barnes.  In addition, two candidates for the Board of Education also spoke, including the current Chairperson of the Board, Janet Butkus, and candidate Mary Korsu.  The event was also attended by incumbent members of the Board of Finance who are up for reelection – Dick Hill, John Reilly and Art Mulligan, according to the release.

Various state legislators were also in attendance and spoke to the crowd about developments in Hartford, including Southbury’s two state representatives, Arthur O’Neill and David Labriola and State Senator Toni Boucher.
