Public meeting set for June 12 on proposed draft of Southbury Conservation and Development.

The Southbury Planning Commission is holding an informational public meeting to receive input from residents on the Draft 2012 Plan of Conservation and Development.

The public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. at Southbury Town Hall. Attendees will get a brief overview of key strategies proposed in the Draft Plan and have the opportunity to comment on the plan, according to Edward W. Gore, Jr., Chairman of the Planning Commission.

The commission has taken into account input offered by residents, local officials, and community groups over the last year.

“We spent countless hours determining what we believe are strategies to help Southbury retain a high quality of life,” said Gore.  “We hope we captured residents’ hopes for the future.”

After gathering public input, the Commission will update the Draft Plan and develop a detailed Implementation Element. Then the proposed Plan will be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for its consideration and the Commission will hold a public hearing for Plan adoption, allowing for additional public input.
