What Connects Your Family?

Food is a big part of what connects ours!

Some of my strongest childhood memories are food-related.  Friday night dinners really stand out, the smell of chicken soup cooking when I came home from school, the huge amount of chicken we would all eat from one of my Mom's many recipes, and my grandparents and us all enjoying food and love.  It's no surprise that I have carried the importance of connecting over food into our family.

Even as adults, food continues to be our "glue".  Last summer, we played a family game of the TV show "Chopped", and our younger son and I were on the same team, creating a meal together. I recently visited our older son in Seattle.  He asked me to teach him how to bake challah bread.  The love that comes through our cooking and eating together is wonderful.

Whether it be food, playing board games, or going for a hike, doing things together as a family builds relationships, and creates life-long memories.  We all need these connections, and strengthening them will help your children throughout their lives.
