Email Not Your Thing? Get Called About School Delays/Cancellations

Region 15 parents can sign up to get a call from the district. Here's how.

The flurries Tuesday morning were a cold reminder that winter is upon us. And that means delays and cancellations are a possibility.

In light of that, Region 15 shared a message on its website about the notification process — including how to sign up to receive alerts via the phone. Here's the scoop:

In the event of weather related closures or delayed openings, Region 15 currently uses the SchoolMessenger automated communication system to contact parents/guardians via email addresses only. Based on past parent preference, the District does not use the School Messenger automated communication system to make early morning calls for school closings or delayed openings.

However, parents can now use SchoolMessenger Contact Manager to “opt into” receiving early morning telephone calls for these events. These calls are usually placed between 5 and 5:30 a.m.

A letter detailing how to “opt into” the early morning calls will be sent home with your child’s first report card.  If, for any reason, you do not receive this letter or have additional questions, please call Russ Sage, Director of Information Technology at 203-758-8259, ext. 125.
