Region 15 Approves Second Budget Proposal with 2.79 Percent Increase
Board of Ed cuts almost $550,000 from first 2014-15 proposal.
The Region 15 Board of Education has set a new budget proposal for the second 2014-15 budget referendum, scheduled for Wednesday, June 4. The proposal is a 2.79 percent increase over the current year, down from the 3.6 percent spending increase that failed by 408 votes on May 7.
The new proposal totals $63,681,307, including $1,729,043 in new spending over 2013-14. (The first vote featured an increase of $2,276,182.)
The Board of Education unanimously approved the second budget Tuesday night, noting that it “maintains all programs and services for students” and “includes new Social Studies texts for Grades 6 and 7, Mathematics resources for Grades K-5, computer projectors for PHS and library books.”
Polls will be open in Southbury and Middlebury next Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
