Southbury Snowstorm Central: Schools, Town Hall Closed [Updated]

Update as of 9 a.m. on Feb. 13:

Due to the snowstorm, Town Hall buildings will be closed Thursday, Feb. 13.

Our original report follows:

With about a foot of snow forecast to start falling overnight, Region 15 is joining districts throughout the state in closing school on Thursday, Feb. 13.

The storm, dubbed Pax, also prompted the Town to issue a Code Red message. That message, from First Selectman Ed Edelson, follows:

The town is preparing for the impact of Storm Pax. Southbury Public Works has determined that there is sufficient material to treat the roads appropriately before the storm. How much material will finally be required depends on the nature of the 30 hour storm event.

Provisions have been made to open the Senior Center as a Shelter if there is a major disruption in power. However, as always, we recommend that you shelter-in-place until after the storm passes.

I encourage all residents to restrict travel tomorrow to allow the public works crew to do their work. Now is the time to prepare for potential impacts of this storm including supplies in case you lose power for an extended period of time.

For more information, you can call 203-264-5912. Please call 911 for emergency purposes only so as not to interfere with the dispatcher priorities.
