Development Commission Updating Database of Southbury Businesses

Local businesses asked to log on to the town's website and register their businesses.

The Southbury Economic Development Commission (SEDC) is currently updating its database of all Southbury businesses. All Southbury business owners are invited to connect with the SEDC by visiting the town’s website and clicking the “Add Your Business!” button located on the left of the home page.

Interested businesses are requested to complete this registration by the end of May; however, continuing registrations and updates are strongly encouraged after that date. A short electronic survey seeking initial data from those businesses is planned for early summer.

This newest initiative will help the SEDC become a more effective working liaison between the business community and the Town of Southbury, as well as an efficient resource for existing and prospective businesses.

In addition to gathering relevant economic development information, SEDC’s objective is to create a sustainable communication flow between it and the businesses in town. In this manner, SEDC plans to support its mission by helping businesses remain informed of relevant information. This will also keep the Commission informed of opportunities to help support local businesses and grow the town’s economic base in a manner consistent with Southbury’s current Plan of Conservation and Development.

“The Economic Development Commission is looking forward to better our relationship with existing businesses, through open lines of communication,” SEDC Chairman Anne Armeno said. “We also would like to make Southbury a destination town for new businesses.“

The Southbury Economic Development Commission has included a public comment section to their monthly meetings and encourages local business owners to attend, meet and talk with the Commission members. Meetings are at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month.
