When and how did your business get started?

In 2004 after working seventeen years in an office, I needed a change. I wanted to do something creative and artistic.Having watched my father for 22 years build our home which was a major endeavor of stonework on to of a 40 acre ridge top, I guess it was "in my blood".

After much thought and research, and much trial and error I started Ridge Top Engraving . I engrave stones ,everything from small pet memorials to large town and city projects.I work "in house" but an also one of the very few mobile stone engravers. I can go on site to do large engraving projects. It is a great satisfaction to put in long hours and hard work, and to step back and know that my work will be "etched in stone" for a very long time.

Why did you choose to start your business in Southbury?

I was born and have lived in Southbury my whole life and plan to continue to stay here.

What is your business best known for?

I would have to say I am best known for being able to go anywhere and engrave large projects. I have covered a good portion of CT. from top to bottom ,east to west , and NY. I am also known for my creative fundraising bricks, which have been done for memorial walkways for schools, churches, police station / coast guard marinas, town parks, did several large granite memorial pieces for fire departments in NY in memory of 9/11. I was honored to have been chosen for those jobs.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

I think one thing that my customers don't initially know is that I can come to their home or business and engrave an existing stone wall, bolder or even add something to their outdoor patio.

I also have become involved with helping and working with our Veterans. As a thank you to all that have served I engrave small stones that say Thank You on one side and different sayings on the back. I make them and give them to veterans at different events as my small way of saying thank you for your service. I have met some amazing Vets and learned so much from each of them.

Does your business offer any special deals?

At Christmas time, I do offer glass engraving for special gifts. Glass engraving is very time consuming and delicate , so I usually just offer it around the holidays.
