Platt Farm Hike and Bench Dedication

On Sunday, November 6, the Southbury Land Trust will host its third and final fall hike at the  Platt Farm.

This hike is on a farm and will be confined to the fields and meadows where no limbs or fallen trees are a threat.  A large loop hike will track the many benches placed throughout the farm, offering spectacular views and resting stops.   Culminating the hike, a new bench will be dedicated in memory of long-time land trust volunteer and friend, Lee Huber.  After the dedication, all are invited to enjoy beverages, local apples, snacks and home-baked goodies.

Hikers should keep in mind that farm terrains can be muddy and rugged and there are still ticks about, so please dress appropriately.

The  event will be held from 1:30p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The farm is located on Flood Bridge Road (between Main Street South and South Britain/Library Road).  Parking will be in the wood lot and hikers should gather at the Platt Farm Kiosk, (look for the oranges cones).

For further details, directions, or in case of rain, call the Southbury Land Trust office at (203)264-4441.  Anyone seeking information about donating a Benefactor Bench in memory or honor of a loved one may direct inquiries to this same phone number or to email@southburylandtrust.org
