New Community House Basketball Courts Opening Tonight

Area residents will have access to the state of the art courts following a ribbon cutting ceremony slated for tonight.

Construction has been completed on two state of the art basketball courts at Community House Park in Southbury.

To commemorate the accomplishment the Southbury Board of Selectman and the Southbury Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. tonight. Construction began on the courts in early July.

The two regulation size courts are fully equipped with glass backboards and were constructed with a post tension concrete system.  The entire system is waterproof and comes with a 20-year guarantee to be free of any structural cracking, according to the First Selectman’s Office. Both courts are fenced in and the old court has been converted into a parking lot.
