PHS Girl’s Soccer, Volleyball Exit State Tournaments

Successful seasons come to a close for Panthers.

Strong seasons ended Tuesday for the Pomperaug Girl’s Soccer and Volleyball teams after both fell in quarterfinal matches.

The PHS Girl’s Soccer squad lost a hard fought 1-0 game to #19 RHAM, exiting their bracket and ending their season Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers wrap up the season with an 11-4-3 record.

Pomperaug Volleyball fell to #3 Woodstock Academy 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-22) Tuesday night. The Panthers finish the season with a mark of 13-7.

The only remaining team still alive in a state tournament is the PHS Boy’s Soccer team. The Panthers host #9 Fairfield Prep at 2 p.m. today, the winner will earn a spot in the state semifinals.

Field Hockey exited their state tournament in the first round last week.
