“America’s first burger sandwich was cooked up right here at New Haven’s Louis Lunch more than a century ago — and the restaurant is still going strong,” explains Anne Lee, Executive Director of the Central Regional Tourism District, which covers 65 Connecticut towns and cities including the Greater Hartford, Greater New Haven, and Connecticut River Valley regions.

“Today, a wide variety of restaurants in our region serve up fantastic burgers, from grilled to steamed to bison burgers to ‘build-your-owns,'" Lee said. "Add to that, some of the finest microbreweries in all of New England and we have our very own regional burger and brew trail.”
