Southbury Girls Go Green to Help the Needy

Juniorettes' conservation project benefits Southbury needy fun through sale of eco bags.

The Southbury Juniorettes recently launched a conservation project and designed recycled cotton, eco bags, as an earth-friendly alternative to single use paper and plastic bags.  The proceeds from the sale of the bags support the Southbury Needy Fund and help to promote business in Southbury.

The bags are available for sale at Newbury Place, 41 Oaktree Road in Southbury.  They sell for $3 each and come with an advertising brochure listing the local businesses that supported the project.

The eco bags feature a drawing of the clock tower in the Southbury Plaza and the gazebo on the Southbury Green along with the slogan “From the Plaza to the Green and Everything in Between, Support Business in Southbury, CT."  The artwork was created by Juniorette member Nicole Cassidy.

“We hope people will use our bags when they shop at any store, not just for groceries,” said Juniorettes’ Co-President, Jennifer Biereder.  “By doing so, you are making a contribution to clean up the planet while supporting the Southbury Needy Fund.”

The Southbury Juniorettes are a non-profit, community service organization for girls ages 9 to 18.
