The Southbury First Selectman's Office issued an Advisory Friday entitled "Preparing for the Winter Storm Season." Here are some important reminders and tips to keep in mind this winter.

-When parking on Town roads, please allow space for plows and other town
vehicles assisting with salting and snow removal to pass through.

-Consider reinforcing mailboxes, lampposts, and other posts that might not withstand the force of plowed snow.

-When removing snow from your property, remember not to deposit any snow onto a public road. Doing so violates the Town Ordinance.

-Residents can obtain a free mixture of salt and sand to help with slippery walks and driveways at the Public Works Department, 60 Peter Road, Southbury. (please note: use the entrance off of Peter Road between Rochambeau Middle School and the Public Works Office).

Each resident must bring their own containers and shovels, and the limit is four buckets full.

Good to know, the town gives a free salt and sand mix.
