Seven Reasons to Go to Southbury Celebration

Here's what some of your neighbors had to say. Did they miss anything?

Sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s on Saturday is setting the stage for a picture perfect day for the 2013 Southbury Celebration.

This year's celebration will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Lake Stibbs at the Southbury Training School on Route 172. The rain date is Sept. 29.

In case you needed a reason to go to this year's Southbury Celebration, your neighbors have a few suggestions for you. Here's what some said on our Facebook page:

Fireworks: Who doesn't love a great fireworks display? (And the local forecast is calling of mostly clear skies.) "The fireworks show is always a good end to the night!!" — Robin Extance.

Pomperaug High School Students Singing: Don't let their parents be the only ones cheering 'em on!

Lots of Food: Don't forget about "the clam chowder served in bread bowls!" Becky Duffany O'Rourke reminds us.

Bacon Ranch Popcorn: "Cub Scouts from Pack 61 - Southbury, CT is selling gourmet popcorn! Dark & White chocolatey drizzle, Bacon Ranch, Jalapeno, Buffalo Cheddar, and of course Carmamel and Kettlecorn." — Jennifer Dikun Parrella.

Support Volunteer Firefighters: "The Southbury Volunteer Firemen's Association will be there with several trucks and selling shirts/patches!" — Sarah Palmer.

Sense of Community:
It's a once-a-year event where folks from town can come together to celebrate the place they call home. As Yvonne Ellis Cosacchi says, it's "good food, good friends and fantastic fireworks."

Use Up Your Remaining Mosquito Repellent: "You have a ton of mosquito repellent left over from the summer you need to use up." — Glen Gleissner.
