Southbury: South Britain Church "Adopt-a-Shelf" at Southbury Food Bank

South Britain Congregational Church (SBCC) in Southbury has become a sponsor for the "Adopt-a-Shelf Program" at Southbury Food Bank (SFB).  As a sponsor, SBCC selected the "Cream Soups and Chowders" shelf to be labeled "South Britain Congregational Church" to keep stocked by collecting and delivering 60-80 cans of creamed soups and chowders per month to SFB.  Church members, their children and friends of the church rotate making deliveries, learning the stocking procedures, and touring the food bank to learn more about the needs of the community.   Deliveries are at specific times which are different and sensitive to shopping times.  Church members Chris Dreton, Jodi Mitchell, Linda Perry and Sue Wilson made recent deliveries of cans and stocked the designated shelf. Jen Troy, on the Board of Directors of SFB, gave her fellow church members tours and explained the procedures. For more about the "Adopt-a-Shelf Program" see http://www.southburyfoodbank.org/activity
