What an idiotic, spendthrift, misogynistic baby. How many more months are we stuck with this moronRead More ?? I agree with Amber. What business is it of Edelson's or anyone else how people live their lives ?? Just who or what sets the definition of what exactly is hoarding in the first place ? Edelson ?? HA ! Yeah Right ! Firefighters face far greater danger than someone who may be hoarding. Are we also going into everyone's garage to see how they store their gasoline for their mower ?? Improper storage of flammables is far, far more dangerous than hoarding. Maybe Edelson has nothing better to do now that he ran out of a meeting like a 2 year old and took his ball home. How many more months are we stuck with this moron ?? I am a lifelong Democrat and I will vote for ANYONE and I mean ANYONE even a Tea bagger before I would ever vote for this imbecile in the next election.
Amber Elizabeth July 23, 2014 at 01:48 pm
Now I have to say I do think known hoarders should be documented because I do recognize thatRead More hoarding can be extremely dangerous for fire fighters if anything were to happen, and again something should be in place for condo style close proximity places where your hoarding poses a fire hazard to others.this way first responders are alerted to known hoarders. More than likely extreme hoarders. Ever see hoarders?! That stuff is nuts! But again how do you define that boarder line and how do you justify going into places with out prior knowledge. Blight covers the outside. But to just go and "investigate" in a single residential home that you just want to "see". Yeah no. Heritage should have that base covered and individual condo/apartment complexes and close living should have systems already.

If anyone in Public Works is guilty of or complicit in bid rigging schemes for profit, thoseRead More individuals should be under indictment. The innocent won't lose sleep over this, and would probably welcome a sorely needed house cleaning at PW. As for anyone who has been involved in shady dealings, the dark cloud is the least of their worries. "If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime". Edelson was made aware of at least some of these allegations prior to the last BOS meeting, yet apparently did nothing about them. He didn't include a discussion on them in the meeting agenda, and he didn't schedule an executive session until the issue was raised at the meeting by Ken Korsu. Shortly after that, Edelson stormed out of the meeting. I smell a rat, or maybe it's a fishy smell, but it stinks. I hope that we get to the bottom of it soon.

In Woodbury it is the stress of the property values decreasing and the ever increasing of taxes.Read More People can not afford their taxes now. This years shell game, the First Selectman and the BOF Chair want everyone to believe that only 40% of the taxpayers taxes are going up. 40% increase in stress in those people's lives. Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her. I experiencedRead More it first hand also. It was this organization called consumer loan firm (C.L.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan. But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now. My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: consumerloanfirm@gmail.com and get a loan from them. Thanks

This is BS and political game playing. There are already multiple laws in place to ensure fair payRead More for women, minorities, etc. This is a stupid game, playing on people's emotions and not logic. There is very little in the way of a pay gap between men and women, except possibly at the CEO level, where there is probably not an equal representation of women. But that gets into cultural values, gender values. It is complicated. The surveys are a lie, because they combine many different job levels. I have designed, participated in and purchased many salary surveys over the course of 25 years. The good purchased surveys cost a lot of money, because they were carefully constructed, not just separated out on the basis of gender and combining all levels of jobs.
Bobbie July 23, 2014 at 11:10 pm
BS? Judy, you have to be kidding or ignorant. This is happening. And far more realistic thanRead More company promoted surveys. Totally self serving. Woman have for years been earning less than their male counterparts for years. "Francine Blau, an award winning labor economist at Cornell who has published widely on gender and the workplace: Way back in the 1950s, women earned around 60 percent on average of what men earned when working year-round full time. And it stayed right around at that level until about 1980. Then, particularly in the decade of the 80s, there was really considerable progress in narrowing the gender pay gap. Since then, there's been further progress, but it's been a little bit more fitful, a little less consistent. So in 1980, that figure was 60 percent. In 1990 it was 72 percent. In 10 years, that was quite a change. In 2000, it was 73 percent. And now it's about 77 percent. It bounces around year to year."
Judy Davidson July 24, 2014 at 06:30 am
You are basing your ideas on something you've read published by someone you don't know, more thanRead More likely. I am basing my opinion on 25 years of experience in Human Resources, setting salary ranges, recruiting, hiring. NO ONE ever told me to hire a woman at a lower rate than a man. Hiring ranges and salary offers were based on the person's experience. I was not talking about company published surveys. Companies don't publish surveys of that kind, and if they did - I would have been the person designing and creating it. Yes, this whole gender pay gap is BS, because it is based on "survey data" that is not put together properly.

porter gladstone III July 23, 2014 at 05:28 pm
Paula, you'd actually have to show me where I am whining about what you say Im whining about. MyRead More view of the situation is that no one seems to be winning. And it is derived from a liberal point of view that borders are bad things. So we have kids in jails, mothers who no longer have their kids nearby, and border towns that are inundated and strapped for resources. What I see is the border town churches--the one's that are excoraiated for their 'hateful' attitudes the primary organizations that are doing their best to help these kids. People like yourself, I dont see actually helping, unless you think blogging is helpful? People who say they want their tax dollars to go there instead of to the Dept of Defense (me too by the way) but who cant comprehend that the taxpayers are the exact people you villify and the non-taxpayers are the one's you hail as iconic. When you tell me that you view occupy people as sponges and non-contributors to society instead of Exxon, we will be aligned. Do I think that Wal-mart benefits from our social welfare system--yep I do. But thats where unions should step in, not the government. because when government gets involved in anything, it messes things up. I have discussed, but not yet booked getting a ticket and spending a week on the border towns trying to help. I havent committed yet-because Im hoping somebody else joins me. Im not gonna tell you ive done something i havent, but I also dont think that im a better person if I repudiate others as you feel is being a good person. If you tell me you are right there in the trenches -bravo-if youre just anther liberal who makes their life's mission correcting the actions or non-actions of others, while not doing anything real--then who cares . Ive spent a good part of my life trying to help others. And each time I see liberals like yourself lecturing, and my experience is that the people who actually roll up their sleeves are republicans. So prove me wrong-but not fake prove me wrong. But my sense is you actually think you are a good person because you tell others to want to help.
