A New Londoner July 24, 2014 at 10:24 am
I love my state! I was born and bred here and, with any lucky at all, when they lay me on the pyreRead More it will be right here. I'm not one for nicknames although sometimes I do refer to myself as a 'Nutmegger'. Generally, however, I simply say "I'm from Connecticut".
Deborah Seaman July 24, 2014 at 10:33 am
It would be easier to change "Connecticutensians" to "Connecticensians," which IRead More rather like.
JG July 24, 2014 at 10:45 am
I say I am from east coast California. I am embarrassed to say I come from this state.

Good for them! I'll be buying my treats there!

when I was four I did not even know the word Pregnant. Had I said it I would have had soap bubblesRead More in my mouth. Tired of out of control children and parents who lack skills. When I grew up the rule in public was little children should be seen and not heard. And stop calling them little people btw..a childs brain does not completely mature until around 25. There is more to this story I am sure!
Trudi Greissle Davidoff July 24, 2014 at 11:18 am
Who the heck bans a four year old for their innocent remarks? Totally overblown reaction with anRead More equally overblown public reaction. Actions can't be taken back and internet criticism lasts for eternity. Everytime someone googles 'Monroe Doughnut Inn' they're going to find the news articles about the public angst. There are a lot of doughnut shops around--turning away a four year old is a turn-off. Blowing your PR is a bone-headed move.

Well, Silentdoodoo, a penny borrowed is still a penny owed, and $121 million borrowed but not spentRead More is still $121 million owed, that we are also still paying interest on. I know you guys don't get it, and what is really a shame is that most of you don't have the ability to learn either, which is what is destroying our county!!!
Spiff July 24, 2014 at 09:32 am
Country.
David Parsons July 24, 2014 at 10:05 am
The vast majority of Connecticut debt was in place before Governor Malloy took office. As a matterRead More of fact, his tax increase resulted in LESS borrowing.

the article clearly states the list of products recalled, two of which are organic, so no correctionRead More is warranted.
Don W July 23, 2014 at 06:14 pm
According to foodsafteynews.com the problem was with a filthy Wawona packing plant. After the plantRead More was cleaned there was no more Listeria present on any fruit. So why does this this article start with the word Organic?
EWCtzn July 24, 2014 at 12:45 am
Kara, the headline reads "Organic Fruit Sold Locally Recalled for Possible ListeriaRead More Contamination". It's clearly sensationalizing the two organic products.

tom - I received your other message and I hear you but a small masochistic streak in me has meRead More coming back. This will be my last on this thread because there are no more points to make and no one listening who is open minded.
Mom of two July 24, 2014 at 09:39 am
Yes, run away boys! Thomas, I should have added that I don't dispute the information that youRead More quoted. I read it too and I have seen that info before. My point was just that that was not the new CDC study that you and your cohorts seem to think it is. It's just more false info being thrown around. And who am I Tom? Exactly what my handle says, a mom of two who is sick of this gun culture and wants to see what can be done to change it. That doesn't mean banning or confiscating all guns. It means enforcing the laws we have, strengthening the mental health system, background checks on every purchase no matter where you buy it from, stop glamorizing guns and gun violence in movies, tv and video games and yes I am for the assault weapons ban and limiting high magazine clips because I don't believe they are necessary for responsible gun owners to do what they need to do with them. The less guns and bullets in the world the better. I know you disagree, that's ok. Peace.

I agree with you both. It is hard to tell from the newspaper article what happened. It seems likeRead More no one agreed with the First Selectman that they should do this (both Dems and Reps) but I'm not sure
Webster July 23, 2014 at 10:31 am
What an idiotic, spendthrift, misogynistic baby. How many more months are we stuck with this moronRead More ?? I agree with Amber. What business is it of Edelson's or anyone else how people live their lives ?? Just who or what sets the definition of what exactly is hoarding in the first place ? Edelson ?? HA ! Yeah Right ! Firefighters face far greater danger than someone who may be hoarding. Are we also going into everyone's garage to see how they store their gasoline for their mower ?? Improper storage of flammables is far, far more dangerous than hoarding. Maybe Edelson has nothing better to do now that he ran out of a meeting like a 2 year old and took his ball home. How many more months are we stuck with this moron ?? I am a lifelong Democrat and I will vote for ANYONE and I mean ANYONE even a Tea bagger before I would ever vote for this imbecile in the next election.
Amber Elizabeth July 23, 2014 at 01:48 pm
Now I have to say I do think known hoarders should be documented because I do recognize thatRead More hoarding can be extremely dangerous for fire fighters if anything were to happen, and again something should be in place for condo style close proximity places where your hoarding poses a fire hazard to others.this way first responders are alerted to known hoarders. More than likely extreme hoarders. Ever see hoarders?! That stuff is nuts! But again how do you define that boarder line and how do you justify going into places with out prior knowledge. Blight covers the outside. But to just go and "investigate" in a single residential home that you just want to "see". Yeah no. Heritage should have that base covered and individual condo/apartment complexes and close living should have systems already.
Ted Brown July 21, 2014 at 10:16 pm
If anyone in Public Works is guilty of or complicit in bid rigging schemes for profit, thoseRead More individuals should be under indictment. The innocent won't lose sleep over this, and would probably welcome a sorely needed house cleaning at PW. As for anyone who has been involved in shady dealings, the dark cloud is the least of their worries. "If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime". Edelson was made aware of at least some of these allegations prior to the last BOS meeting, yet apparently did nothing about them. He didn't include a discussion on them in the meeting agenda, and he didn't schedule an executive session until the issue was raised at the meeting by Ken Korsu. Shortly after that, Edelson stormed out of the meeting. I smell a rat, or maybe it's a fishy smell, but it stinks. I hope that we get to the bottom of it soon.
Shaun July 21, 2014 at 10:33 pm
Perhaps the clouds are just a shade darker after the BoS meeting? I believe they were well gatheredRead More over the last year starting with 2 totaled trucks costing $150K each to replace, numerous other accidents, the worst winter road conditions in years... I agree the department needs a thorough review, there's something seriously wrong at Southbury DPW.

Giant Cheez-It crackers with salsa. OR remove one cookie from each of 2 Oreo double-stufs, feedRead More those to the dog, put the two remaining together to make one quadruple-stuf. I wouldn't call pizza junk food. unless you're getting it from dominos or some other chain. ButRead More anyway, the answer to this is easy. My favorite junk food is Chips Ahoy (and not those disgusting chewy ones) - dipped in milk, of course.

In Woodbury it is the stress of the property values decreasing and the ever increasing of taxes.Read More People can not afford their taxes now. This years shell game, the First Selectman and the BOF Chair want everyone to believe that only 40% of the taxpayers taxes are going up. 40% increase in stress in those people's lives. Don't worry though the First Selectman and the BOF Chair have stated that no ones taxes are going up. ??? It's called talking out of both sides of your mouth. Tell the voters whatever they want to hear to get the budget passed. The voters have another chance to VOTE DOWN the proposed budget on the 23rd. Remember VOTE YES FOR HIGHER TAXES.

Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her. I experiencedRead More it first hand also. It was this organization called consumer loan firm (C.L.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan. But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now. My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: consumerloanfirm@gmail.com and get a loan from them. Thanks
This guy deserves his bad reputation.

Haha - so we need yet another law to pass what's already in the law. This is what happens whenRead More Democrats sign legislation without reading it - they don't even know what they've signed. Bobbi, show me one example where for an identical job they paid a woman less. Your studies are "damn lies and statistics" which can be twisted to suit any argument.
Judy Davidson July 24, 2014 at 07:09 am
And put together to further an agenda.
Bobbie July 24, 2014 at 09:34 am
Oh, poor, poor Judy and Philip. so, so, deluded. I have worked for a total of 41 years. FiveRead More years part time and 36 full time. Two of the companies for which I worked had their own factories. The female employees were earning approx. 20 cents less per hour than their male counterparts. The "damn lies and statistics" and the furthering of an agenda strictly belong to Judy and Philip in their lonely denials. As with the House Majority and the Soggy Tea Baggers, they most certainly do not reside in the real world. Thank you God for granting me the freedom of not having to share my good life with them as they will be spewing more venom come November as they become this country's Big Losers. Big Time.
